Client: Motojombo
Role: Graphic and content designer.
Team: Me and César Rengifo
Year: 2020 - 2021
Background
Motojombo makes life easier for their users by making delivery service a friendly and smooth experience within their app and website. The user can hire a messenger to run certain errands such as signature request, bank deposits or deliver packages in different zones within Guatemala City and track the messenger. After the delivery or errand was done successfully, the app sends a push notification to the user indicating that such process is done.
Overview
My role in this project was to brainstorm content ideas, design posts and stories for Facebook and Instagram, and contribute to their visual brand assets; combining the usage of images of people using technology and adding flat elements that could complement in a whimsical and friendly way to the product.
The users to be targeted were millennials who live in Guatemala City, whom are very busy to run errands or deliveries but do have access to their phones.
Understanding the problem
The brand lacked a tone of voice and a graphic style in their social media accounts; and also valuable content for the user. Some of the goals or messages that needed to be communicated to the user were the following:
The guarantee that their package is safe with their Motojombo messengers.
The success of the completion for the user’s errands.
Valuable content for the user.
Tips on how to use the app, and more.
Key Takeaways
When a brand is trying to find its voice and graphic identity it is acceptable to experiment and try different visual styles until it feels right. Iteration process is everything! For this project, it felt right to combine stunning photography with real people and whimsical colorful graphics that little by little became part of the brand.
For this project, the designs were created at first in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. However, Figma appeared in the picture and for some reason made easier the collaborative work and certain features as well even though Figma is mainly used for designing interfaces. Also, if there is no time or the budget is tight, it is always important to at least create a basic style guide and enable visual assets.
